I met up with some fellow Calgary photographers after work for some drinks and exploring. The Centre Street Bridge was discovered to have some really amazing light after the sun set.
This was my first time shooting a festival with a media pass, and my first time ever attending X-Fest. Combining the two firsts together was pretty great. I spent most of the festival running back and forth catching just the first three songs of most sets before having to go backstage to take more photos. I did, however, jump on the chance to watch Tegan and Sara's full set from the photo pit, and it was a definite highlight of the festival for me. Another highlight for me was drinking wine backstage with Danielle of Dear Rouge and getting life advice from her about passion and working hard to get to where you want to be. I always have so much fun shooting musicians doing what they love. I can't wait to do more of this in the future.
These two are the bees' knees. Carrie and Mike decided to have their engagement session at Carrie's mom's acreage, which was such a beautiful location. We had a great time walking around the property, narrowly avoiding stepping into a wasps' nest at one point. Carrie and Mike were such troopers, willingly getting bitten by mosquitoes and climbing over gates to maneuver through swampy grass to get to the good spots. Mike proposed to Carrie by building her a swing, which I find incredibly sweet and sums up Carrie and Mike incredibly well - so thoughtful and caring. I can't wait to shoot their wedding in August.
