I got to spend a day with the most fun group of people. Shots in the middle of the day. Two stepping on the dance floor. And in the very centre of it all, two people who love each other very much and get to spend the rest of their lives together.
I love this girl so much. Any time spent with her is the best time, even if it's in the worst weather.
There are some times when Calgary is really, really cool.
What better way is there to celebrate a birthday than by throwing an incredible concert and making everyone come dressed in Canadian tuxedos? Michael sure knows how to get it done. I have shot many, many things for him now and I have to say that it never gets old. Michael is an incredible talent and has such great people in his crew. I always feel so lucky to call him a friend and be part of the magic.
When I lie in bed and I can't sleep and all I can think about is what I want to do with my life, there are really only two things that come to mind: I want to take pictures and I want to travel. That's it. The logical part of my brain tries to whisper that I need a back up plan and that I need to get a "real" job before I really get my photography business started, but if I'm being truly honest, that is not what I want to do. I want to throw myself fully and completely into this. I don't want to waste any time not taking pictures. I want this to be my life. (I may have also just watched the Beyonce documentary and am feeling really incredibly inspired and empowered right now, but everything I am saying is still true).
This June, I've been given the opportunity to do a two-month exchange in Hong Kong. Yes. Hong Kong. I can't even describe how excited I am about it. I wish I could just press fast forward and be there right now. But alas, there is still a semester to be completed, airplane tickets to be booked, visa applications to be approved, and so on and so forth. Adding up the total cost, it makes me feel so overwhelmed and short of breath but now that this is all a reality I really need to start getting stuff done.
So here is how I blend all of my dreams together: every time I sell a print or do a session, it brings me a little closer to being able to afford going to Hong Kong. Raising these funds is a goal I really want to achieve because it gives me a glimpse of what my future has to hold when eventually I'm going to want to sustain an entire living on just my photography.
